How and Where is Treatment Provided?
Appointments with Reiki Journey usually take place in our Treatment Rooms. In some cases, depending upon client need, clients can be treated at home, or in hospital or hospice provided it is within reasonable travelling distance from Newton Abbot, Devon. Travelling costs will need to be included and may be agreed upon on individual case/need basis.

Client Led Treatment
At the Reiki Journey we believe that the client should decide the number and frequency of treatments. Your therapist will provide advice and guidance only. You the client know yourself best. In general terms anything from one to three treatments will allow the client to assess the effects of treatment and determine their own preferred treatment regime.
Some clients may also wish to arrange periodic top-up treatments according to their needs.
Self Treatment & Management
We all have the ability to promote our own health and well being. When you undertake a Reiki treatment, your therapist will spend time on your first appointment, obtaining information about you and your presenting condition or reason for seeking a Reiki treatment. Your therapist will discuss with you, your health and ways in which you can contribute to your own healing and future health improvement. By engaging with your therapist, you will give yourself the best opportunity of gaining and sustaining a more balanced and healthy future no matter what your presenting condition.
Changing Lifestyle
Living as we do in a fast moving modern society, we all succumb to the effects of modern living, from air pollution to convenience foods, lack of exercise and other professional and environmental stresses.
By looking at our lifestyle we can often make quite small adjustments which can result in a dramatic improvement on our health and well being.
Your therapist will routinely discuss these issues with you at the time of treatment thus giving you the opportunity to assess and improve your own lifestyle should you wish to do so.
What can Reiki offer?
Like most complementary therapies, and unlike conventional medicine, Reiki can offer an holistic approach to all conditions. The word ‘Complementary’ as opposed to the frequently used term ‘Alternative’ is preferred, as it will never be suggested that a complementary therapy should replace orthodox medicine in any of it’s forms. Reiki can of course be used in isolation, but clients in receipt of medical treatment at the time of consultation, will be advised to continue prescribed treatment and any medication, and will also be advised to inform their Doctor/Consultant that they are undergoing Reiki.
Reiki is safe for all conditions affecting mind and body, and it is highly probable that clients, in addition to alleviation or elimination of the physical condition, will notice that they also receive a feeling of calm and well being as a result of the Reiki treatment. This is the direct result of the balancing of Mind, Body and Spirit which occurs with Reiki.
So to sum up, Reiki is an holistic and totally safe form of treatment, which can work in conjunction with other treatments or in isolation. It is non invasive and gentle, does not require any belief on the part of the client, or the use of any chemicals or other equipment, nor does it necessitate the removal of clothing.
How Many Treatments are Required?
This will depend on your personal needs. You the client decide the number of sessions based on advice given by your therapist.
Some people, particularly those who lead stressful lives, choose to benefit from a regular treatment plan.
Thermo Auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candles)
We also offer Hopi Ear Candle treatments, known as Thermo Auricular Therapy. This treatment is a completely safe method of reducing and eliminating ear wax, while additionally providing a gentle relaxing therapy which can help to reduce conditions affecting ear, nose and eyes, as well as positively affecting stress and anxiety.
Treatment lasts approximately an hour and twenty minutes and includes facial massage.
For chronic ear wax problems, it should be noted that up to three treatments or more, may be required.
